I'm Now the Mom . . .

of a kindergartener! Today was Andrew's first day of school. He's been more than ready for so long that he didn't have any problem leaving me today. I was trying to give him a big hug and he was practically pushing me away. WAAH! I shed a couple tears so I was very proud of myself. Here he is sitting in his spot in class. Isn't he just the cutest little man, fake smile and all?

In scrappy news, I got a card picked up for publication in Cards Magazine and got a guest DT spot for a fabulous fun site! It has been a great scrappy week!

Magistical Memories Make Me Laugh Contest

Come on over and play with us over at Magistical Memories for this month's contest.

We've all heard that old saying "laughter is the best medicine", at some time in our lives. Let's give ourselves a big dose of laughter and scrap about a person or event that makes you laugh. The requirements are to use a minimum of one piece of chipboard, at least one circle, use "LAUGH or LAUGHTER" in your title, and to use bright and cheery colors. Have fun with this and I hope it makes you smile thinking about it The contest will run from August 1 through August 31. Upload into the contest gallery at www.magisticalmemories.com. There's some awesome chipboard to be won!!

Here is my take on the contest. These pictures of Andrew were just too cute to resist. He is such a happy little dude and laughs at absolutely everything.
I hope to see a lot of you participating in this. You will not be disappointed in the prize package!

Where Has Summer Gone?

I cannot believe that summer is almost over and Andrew is starting Kindergarten next week. EEK! It's insane! It doesn't help that it has been unseasonably cool outside. Not anything like it was last August. This was the exact time last year that we were in Cedar Rapids looking for a house and I thought I was gonna die between the heat and humidity. We have had our air conditioning off for a week in the house and it is very comfortable. Our house is pretty much "together". We are waiting on the wood blinds to be installed (they have been in our garage for a week). That was supposed to get done today but we had to move it to Monday. Also, we picked out our living room furniture a couple weeks ago but they don't have it in stock and won't until mid September. Of course. But there are things up on the walls so it is finally starting to look like home. Here is a layout I did of it using the new Magistical Memories frame. So, so fun!I went to a conference for work last Saturday and saw this guy. He is the guy who made the Diet Coke and Mentos trick such a hit. He was totally awesome. Totally worthy of my Saturday. He got me all pumped and excited over Science, something that I have never really enjoyed. I can't wait to share some of the experiments with the kids.
I am looking forward to a low key weekend with not many plans. Back to school shopping is done so I am gonna enjoy the summer a bit before it is gone.

Back into the Groove

It feels so good to get back into the scrapping groove again. Here is a layout I did about the flood here in Cedar Rapids. My husband got the perfect shot of the street while he was driving on the freeway. If you look closely you can see the water. It was about 8-10 feet up on the buildings. I felt the need to document this. I could've written so much more but I will save that for a mini album I will do some day.And just a fun card. I am so happy that I am making cards again after a dry spell. This one came together so quick!
Finally I sent in some of my work to Dream Street and they posted it on their blog. You can check it out here. So exciting! Have a great rest of the week!

Three Already??

Amongst the chaos of moving, this little boy turned three. I feel bad. Like his birthday just got lost in the shuffle. He has grown so much this past year since moving to Iowa. It is like he is a whole other child. He is also the size of a four year old. Almost off the charts. I guess that is what happens when your dad is almost 6'5". He is such a fun little dude.Mr. Andrew is starting Kindergarten in three weeks! It cannot come fast enough. He needs a challenge, that's for sure. Too smart for his own good. Monday is Kindergarten camp where we take him for about two hours and he learns what the day is like. It's gonna be so weird!
We are off to Chicago this weekend to see my mom before school starts. Have a great rest of the week!

All Moved In

After a very long week we are all moved in! Here are a few pictures of the inside of the house the day before we closed on it and moved in. I will take some of the outside this weekend and share them later.

My kitchen. I love having the room to cook and bake again.

The master bedroom:Guest bedroom:The boys room. The basement. It really isn't this bright and the furniture has really toned down the color. It has really grown on me and makes it fun!

There is also my scraproom, a bathroom, and a storage room down in the basement as well. It is so nice to have lots of room again!

Tomorrow it's back to work after being off for 11 days. I'm not looking forward to that alarm going off in the morning. Have a great week!
